About ChefOpy

I was six years old when I watched the Food Network in Lagos, Nigeria and knew then that I wanted to become a chef.

I studied Business Economics at university before following that dream to Westminster Kingsway College, where I graduated as the overall best student in the kitchen and pastry programme. I went on to work in fine dining at Launceston Place, as well as restaurants and private members’ clubs.

It took a few years in the industry to fully embrace my Nigerian heritage and realise that it was one of my greatest strengths. Today, I love showcasing Nigerian food and culture in unconventional ways - while staying curious, learning from other cultures and bringing new influences into my cooking.

Wanting to understand the business behind the food led me to a Master’s in Food Business Management. Since then, I’ve co-owned an award-winning ice cream company, developed recipes and products, consulted for small African food businesses, and spent five years with Future Plate creating food experiences for private clients, brands and large-scale events.

Chef Opy brings all of that together: food, culture, creativity and business - with a constant curiosity for what’s next.
